In Dawn, Shrewpaw dies from being hit by a Twoleg monster, or a bulldozer of some type, while chasing a pheasant. He breaks his neck in the process. Whitewing seemed to be very close to him, and when he dies, she is devastated.
Starlight
In Starlight, Leafpool sees Shrewpaw with Larchkit and Hollykit in StarClan when she finds the Moonpool.
